Unfortunately sometime last week I must’ve hit the back of my head, or did something to it, since I now have this large and tender gash/ scab thing that hurts like a bitch! Which explains why I have been experiencing concussion-like symptoms for the past few days. Too bad I didn’t really take notice until it started to really, REALLY hurt last night after class. Anyway, luckily for me, last night was the last class/ lecture/Q&A for this quarter. Below is rare glimpse of me in class chattin’ it up and overall making a fool of myself with Matthew Garward, who was one of the animators for the video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

Apparently, I’m the troublemaker/ class clown. However, I fail to see what they’re talking about =P.
All kidding aside, since I started Art of the Cartoon to keep me motivated whilst attending school, I thought it would only be appropriate to share some of the assignments I have done over the past 3 months. Let me know what you think. Keep in mind, this is all basic shit. So for all those folks who told me to start adding sound and voices and stuff to my animation, hold up… I have to learn how to crawl before I can walk. (Hit the jump to see my progress… if you can call it that)

And then we got to do some basic animating…
The first was a basic bouncing ball, and yes I know that final bounce is totally unrealistic, I meant to do it that way!
Up next, just make the ball go around in a circle…I decided to add another ball and Magneto for added effect.
This was the last of the balls, twas a simple double bounce. Oh I should add, I miss the Sonics!
We worked with a robotic arm next. My teacher said to keep it simple and don’t go crazy… I may have gone too crazy… Luckily I didn’t turn this one in, but some of the other students weren’t too fond of this one. I can see why though.
Here’s the simplified version I did turn in. I think I was watching too much ABDC. Pop and Lock baby!
Even more simplified, and this time it picked up the can. Unfortunately the can runs into the block around frame 70. so I went back and tweaked it, and gave it a little more of a dramatic camera angle.
There it is!
Last assignment, was to make this one-legged ball thingy take one step. It looks uuuugly… but it wasn’t supposed to be pretty. There are all sorts of things wrong with it.
Lastly, this was something I did for fun. Some of the students enjoyed it. Once again, too much ABDC influence…
So yup. That’s what I’ve done. Lots of rocky spots now that I look back at everything, but I’m still learning. I did some side projects too, which I’ll post up later this week. Thanks for all the support everyone!
PS: Don’t worry about the gash/ concussion to the back of my head. The day off of work and the ibuprofen seem to be working. It may take a week or two to fully heal, but I’ll be alright… hopefully…
ISANG BAGSAK… (CLAP!)
this stuff is so cool! there is definitely progress – and in such a short time!! good job!
you must’ve hit the back of your head? dude go see a doctor (see: natasha richardson). just sayin.
oh, good shit btw!
